Hotel PR and Social Media: Coverage That Moves Groups, Corporate and Transient Demand

How hospitality PR and social media management convert into demand — story angles that get placed, creator programmes that hold up to scrutiny, and measurement beyond impressions.

PR and social media are the two channels hoteliers are most often sold and least often shown results for. Done properly they build the brand demand that makes every other channel cheaper. Done as an impressions report, they cost money and prove nothing.

Only a few story angles actually get placed

Editors do not publish "our hotel is lovely". They publish news and specifics:

  • Openings, reopenings, rebrands and conversions.
  • Capital investment: renovations, new keys, restored heritage detail, new meeting or wellness space.
  • Food and beverage: a chef, a concept, a residency, a bar programme with a point of view.
  • Design and architecture with a named studio and a real narrative.
  • Leadership appointments and commercial milestones for the trade press.
  • Destination expertise, seasonality and travel-trend commentary where the hotel is a credible source.

Everything else is advertising. Plan waves around these, with assets, quotes and access ready before the pitch goes out.

Match publications to source markets

A placement is only valuable if it reaches people who can book. A property selling into the Gulf, the US and Germany needs coverage in each of those markets, in language, in outlets those guests read — plus the trade press that influences group and corporate buyers.

Social media as a commercial channel

  • One clear content system per platform rather than the same asset reposted everywhere.
  • A mix that works: property and room content, food and beverage, staff and service moments, destination context, guest and creator content, and meetings and events proof for corporate buyers.
  • Fast, human community management — response speed shapes reputation more than any campaign.
  • Paid amplification behind what already performs organically.
  • Native-language execution for every market that matters.

Creator and influencer programmes that hold up

  • Select for audience match and engagement quality, not follower count.
  • Contract deliverables, usage rights, exclusivity and disclosure in writing.
  • Track before/after reach, engagement, saves, brand mentions, branded search lift and referral or booking behaviour where trackable.
  • Reuse the best assets across paid, the website and sales collateral so the value is not a one-week spike.

See our influencer campaign results for how those metrics are structured in practice.

Reputation and crisis readiness

Have the plan before you need it: a single spokesperson, agreed holding statements, an escalation path, review response standards, and monitoring across press, social and review platforms. Silence during an incident is a decision, and usually the wrong one.

Measurement that survives an owner's review

  • Placements weighted by publication relevance to real source markets.
  • Branded search volume before and after each wave.
  • Referral traffic and assisted bookings from coverage and creator activity.
  • Social engagement rate and saves, plus enquiry and DM volume — not raw impressions.
  • Review score and sentiment trend.
  • Share of voice against a defined competitive set.

What goes wrong

Pitching without news. Coverage in markets that do not book the hotel. Creator campaigns with no rights or tracking. Reporting reach as though it were revenue. Running PR, social, website and paid media as four disconnected vendors with nobody accountable for the commercial number.

Ask for a Score Me review, or send a brief — we will map the property's story pipeline, social system and creator strategy to the demand segments that need filling.
